Shasta Edgecore switch Factory Reset Procedure

Modified on Tue, 2 Jun at 12:16 AM

Steps to perform factory reset on a Shasta Edgecore switch

  1. Power off the switch
  2. Create a Loopback Connection port-3 and port-4
Connect Port 3 and Port 4 together to form a loopback connection and ensure both interfaces are linked up (by checking link status LEDs).
  3. Power on the switch and wait 3-4 minutes for it to come up
  4. Access the Console with Ctrl + ]
On the console, press Ctrl + ]
  5. Enter password admin123
Note: The password will not be visible while typing on the console. It is expected.
You should type in the admin123 password and then press <enter>, without seeing anything come back to you on the console, even if it continues to scroll with debug messages
  6. Confirm Reset
After authentication, confirm the reset when prompted:
Are you sure to restore the default configuration? <y/n> y
  7. Wait for the loopback detection and disconnect the loopback
In the console: "Loopback of stipulated port is detected. Repetitions: 1"
Then unplug the cable to disconnect the loopback
  8. Wait 5 seconds
  9. Create again a loopback Connection port-3 and port-4
  10. Wait for the 2nd loopback detection
This can take 10-15 seconds. In the console:
Loopback of stipulated port is detected. Repetitions: 2
Succeed in restoring default configuration. System will be restarted.
  11. Reset triggered by switch
  12. Disconnect the loopback
