Release 2.3 notes

Major new features & enhancements:

Wi-Fi

  • Improved profile configuration inheritance control at the Infrastructure level.
  • You can now assign networks to individual Access Points (APs), providing greater flexibility in network design and optimization.
  • RadSec support for secure AAA communication, that must be enabled under AP profiles.

And, further configured under the networks.

  • AAA monitoring: unresponsive and high latency alarms are promptly raised, logging of authentication rejects as client connection failures giving improved visibility into authentication failures.
  • DNS monitoring system detects unresponsiveness and raises alarm for timely action.

NMS Integration

  • Shasta Cloud now enables sending webhooks on events and alarms, streamlining communication allowing seamless integration with external systems to receive real-time alerts.
  • In this Release, the following 5 alarms are supported.
  • Cloud has lost connection to the AP
  • Cloud has lost connection to the Switch
  • High memory usage by AP
  • High CPU usage by AP
  • Uplink negotiated less than 1 Gbps
     Documentation

Infrastructure

  • Support for the Edgecore ECS-2100-10P, an L2 Gigabit Ethernet Managed PoE Switch, with a maximum PoE power budget of 125W. This switch features 8 GE PoE ports and 2 GE SFP uplink ports, along with a fanless design.

Mobile App

  • Introducing multiroom scans! Seamlessly create layouts and floorplans by scanning multiple rooms. Pause and resume as needed. Optimized for a smooth experience, view captured fragments in real time. This real-time visualization ensures you don't miss any details.
  • The UI now boasts significant smoothness improvements. The floorplan carousel has been refined for a sleeker design.
  • Users can now simultaneously view both the 2D bird’s-eye view and the 3D view of floorplans. This enhanced functionality streamlines exploration and provides a comprehensive perspective.
  • Quick actions have been implemented for infrastructure tasks. Users can view pending tasks directly within the interface and complete them instantly without a need to navigate to separate infrastructure details pages.

Web UI

  • We’ve introduced persistent column selectors for tables across various pages in the Shasta-UI. Now, user selections re even when switching between various pages. This enhancement significantly improves the user experience by eliminating the need to reapply filters during navigation.
  • It is now possible to Sort the clients based on VLAN in both the infrastructure and in the global listing of Clients.
  • We have added more details to columns across pages in the Shasta-UI.
  • Infrastructure listing - Private IP, Public IP, AP Profile, Switch Profile, RF Profile, Radio 2G, Radio 5G, Radio 6G are now added.
  • We’ve made significant improvements to the infrastructure timeline. Now, when you view events, you’ll find more descriptive information and in some cases, the details about what triggered them. Additionally, we’ve introduced a handy feature: a timeline selector. When you hover over the timeline, this selector appears, allowing you to choose a specific area. Once selected, that area expands to cover the entire timeline, and the events list updates accordingly. This enhancement makes it easier to analyze clusters of events that might otherwise be time-consuming to examine.

Upon selecting an area, the timeline view and the events table below undergo the following transformation. It is also possible to reset the view back using the indicator that appears besides the legend of the timeline.
  • Added seamless Excel Sheet (xlsx) export capability for clients, client events, and Infrastructure, with a maximum of 5000 entries per export in this release for further analysis.
  • Improved statistics roll-up for site venues with detailed information on hover-over. This enhancement provides better insights for venue management.
  • Improved venue and infrastructure association for profiles and networks for more intuitive management.
  • Added support for cable drop pins directly on the floor plans.
  • The Marketplace now displays supported countries per hardware model. This information helps you make informed decisions when selecting hardware for your network.
