Release 1.2 Notes

Major new features & enhancements:

AP Profiles & RF profiles 

  • AP & RF profiles provide a mean to group various settings together and apply these settings to all access points in a venue or all access points in the organization. 
  • A default AP profile & a default RF profile have been added, this are applied to all AP in the organization. 
  • Some settings can be overwritten for a specific AP when using profiles. 

How are the configuration settings generated for a specific AP?

AP overview page 

AP overview page now displays an image of the specific AP model & overlays information such as the port status, traffic trends and this screen also allows to manually overview the AP profile port settings (disable, VLAN, speed).

Integrated knowledge base & support ticketing 

The support page has integrated Knowledge base articles for lookup on any subject of interest in case of any trouble that you may face that needs reference help. 

The Integrated KB Articles are categorized into Web-UI, Venue, Network, Organization, Infrastructure and Devices and provided with a “Search Your Question” field that helps users’ to type phrases or keywords to list the relevant available topics relating to the search.

Support->Open Tickets page lists all the tickets opened through the support portal of Shasta. User may create a ticket here if the issue is not explained through the KB Articles. 

Users may track and update their tickets, have conversations or close issues using this page. 

New AP hardware support 

Following partner AP hardware platform are now supported by Shasta Cloud: 

  • CIG 196 (6E) 
  • Edgecore EAP-104 (Wi-Fi 6 Wall-plate) 

Multi-PSK with External AAA support 

This new network type allows managed service provides to integrate with their AAA server and manage personalized PSK per device, the RADIUS integration provides support for dynamic VLAN, Rate limit & CoA for more information, see this knowledge base article - Link.

Managed AP Firmware Management 

In order to streamline the firmware, roll out process, Shasta has developed a self-service capability for customers to control upgrade schedule of new firmware releases. 

As Shasta releases new firmware releases, the system will automatically schedule an upgrade date, customers would be notified, customers would be able to decide if they wish to upgrade the AP right now, keep the current schedule or re-schedule to a more convenient time. 

Shasta Cloud will provide notification via email and Web-UI for: 

  • New Release & schedule date 
  • Re-schedule of maintenance window 
  • Completion of the maintenance 

Note: Shasta Cloud in its next release will provide a way to set schedules on per venue basis, as well handle additional corner cases (AP offline during maintenance window, new AP added during schedule, etc.) 

Stability & performance improvements:

  • Configuration enhancements: 
  • Band steering, Airtime Fairness are now disabled in the default RF profile. 
  • Any new venue that does not have a custom RF profile will be assigned a default RF profile. 
  • Improve the UX responsiveness in the Devices’ page by decreasing screen bring up time to under 3 seconds. 
  • Improved Web UI error reporting when venue service is Down. 

Bugs Fixed:

  • Error message "No such network exists. Contact your system administrator” not appearing when changing Network ID, browser keeps showing loading icon indefinitely (Internal case #772) 
  • Incorrect display of the IP Address of the Access Point. (Internal case #570) 
  • SSID is not getting broadcasted to Access Point when we create MPSK AAA network. (Internal case #774) 
  • Firmware upgrade errors, inconsistencies in scheduling an upgrade and status reporting during the upgrade process. (Internal case #570) 
  • Infrastructure graph data inconsistency errors on the dashboard. (Internal case #534)  

Known Issues:

  1. Duplicate listing of Client devices occurring randomly. (Internal case #79) 
  2. Intermittent clients disconnect issues - affects a specific WiFi5 Intel (7260) client, after 30minutes to several hours of been connected to the Wi-Fi AP, IP traffic stops working, requiring the end user to disconnect and re-connect in order to restore IP connectivity. (Case #501)
